Inspiring a community to take action

The goal of this fundraising campaign was to get 826 Valencia supporters excited about our second location at the Tenderloin and encourage them to make a financial contribution.

Our Approach
In the previous year's campaign, we introduced the location and building. This time around, we wanted to unveil our vision for the space and express the importance of creating a magical environment for our students. To accomplish this, we featured our tree house idea and Gigi — the student that proposed it. As a treehouse lover, I was a big fan of Gigi’s idea from the moment I first heard about it. When this campaign came my way, I felt it was the perfect place to share that story.

My Role
As 826 creative leader, I worked closely with our designer, writer, illustrator, and production coordinator on the concept, design, execution, and production. I assembled the team, provided creative direction, delivered the design presentations, created the schedule, and oversaw the workflow to make sure we met our objectives and deadline while staying within our budget.

The Results
This fundraising campaign surpassed our financial goal and was well received by the 826 community. The deliverables included a self-mailer with a donation envelope and a notecard, an email, and a web page on 826’s site.
